Veja

A shoe brand site that commits to visuals over words and pulls it off with confidence.

Minimal shoe eCommerce homepage with large product photography and minimal text.

Why I Like This Site

What really stood out to me was the bare minimum usage of words. The pictures are doing all the talking, often with only one or two words alongside them. I understood the vibe, their primary products, and who can wear these shoes with almost no explanation.

That makes the SEO side of me sweat a bit, but this brand seems to be killing it with word of mouth, so it's not much of an issue for them.

If the main goal of a site is to get your customer to do what you want without making them think, this achieves that. It means they had to fully commit to having the right photos and a strategy that speaks for itself. And they pulled it off.

Layout and Flow

The hierarchy is entirely visual. Photography leads every section, and text is there only when absolutely necessary. That takes a lot of confidence and a really strong photo library, but when you have both, it works.

The layout is clean and uncluttered. There's no guessing what you're supposed to look at. The flow is intuitive because the visuals guide you naturally from one section to the next.

What I'd Steal From This

  • Trusting strong photography to carry the experience with minimal text support.
  • Committing to a visual-first strategy when your brand and product can support it.
  • Designing for clarity by removing anything that isn't essential.
  • Letting the product and vibe speak for themselves instead of over-explaining.

What I'm Not Crazy About

The lack of words is bold, and it works here, but it does sacrifice some SEO value. For a brand with strong word of mouth and brand recognition, that's probably fine.

But if you can't rely on people already knowing who you are, this approach could be risky. It's a reminder that this strategy works because they've already built the brand equity to pull it off.
